PRODUCT REVIEW: Neutrogena T/Gel Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

TGel Ireland

Even if one hasn’t encountered the perils of dandruff on any level of significant noteworthiness, on occasion dandruff can render its flaky head, killing our refined grooming game. Using anti-dandruff shampoo is somewhat akin to utilising sensitive toothpaste- prevention is better than cure. Whilst flaky scalp is unfortunately natural and can befall the best of us, it can signify poor hygiene and unprofessionalism. T/Gel goes under the microscope today as it is endorsed by several international style personalities as being the best on the market.

T/Gel IrelandUnlike many products which are vouched for online, this one is easily and readily available. It can be purchased at nearly all supermarkets and chemists. It comes in numerous varieties and we’ve opted for the sensitive offering. The bottle offered a forewarning that redness and irritation may occur from use; therefore we erred on the side of caution and opted for the less harsh option. This product certainly isn’t cheap, coming in at €6.99 for a small 125ml bottle. Even with relatively moderate use it only lasted but a mere week. So if it is to be a regular fixture in your weekly shopping basket, perhaps consider showering less!

Unlike original T/Gel, this variety was non-fragranced, which was a welcome surprise considering the bad rap synonymous with the shampoo’s pungent odour. No smell is better than a bad smell. But there is a lot to be said for a zesty or aromatic fragrance when one is taking a refreshing shower after a tough workout session or day at the office.

Most importantly, does this product keep flakes at bay? Indeed it does, but so do other more wallet friendly options. Without compromising quality or effectiveness, one cannot go too far wrong with the tried and tested brands in the field- Head & Shoulders or even Vosene. T/Gel does what it is supposed to, but so do others and for far less. If you’re lucky enough to be in the position to spend conspicuously, go ahead, but this habit needn’t pertain to shampoos.
